During this toolbox meeting we will discuss the protection of flora and fauna in the Netherlands. The Nature Conservation Act is aimed at protecting and preserving wild plant and animal species. By the Nature Conservation Act it is prohibited to:

• uproot, gather plants
• kill, hurt or entrap animals
• purposely disturb animals
• destroy or disturb nests, dens, permanent resting places or dwellings
• searching for and picking up eggs.

Globally, the breeding season runs from 15 March to 15 July.

• Always check beforehand if there are no nests in the area where the work will be carried out.
• Prevent birds from being able to nest in the area where the work will be carried out.
• Note: The Nature Conservation Act does not state breeding season dates. If native breeding birds are breeding, no disturbing work or activities may occur, regardless of the time of year.
